Australian Teacher Strike Halted by IRC
Northern Territory Teachers at a Rally Last April
Members of the Australian Education Union in the Northern Territory were due to go on a three day strike next week
The strike was in pursuit of a pay claim and for improved resources to schools. While there had been some progress there was as yet insusufficient movement particularly on the resourcing of schools. The AEU had called a strike for Wednesday to Friday of next week. However the Industrial Relations Commission has now ruled against the strike which would mean that teachers would face fines if they were to go on strike.
