Canadian Teachers buy Teaching Materials Themselves

A survey by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) has revealed that teachers are making up for shortfalls in education funding by buying teaching materials out of their own pockets

The survey found that the average Canadian teacher paid out $435 of their own money per annum on essential teaching materials. This is a situation which is replicated all over the world as many posts on this website testify. It is a phenomenon not only in the richer OECD countries but also in the global south. Yet the World Bank has chosen to blame teachers for the lack of teaching materials.
