Teachers, parents and children have been protesting proposed cuts to teacher numbers in some of Ireland’s most disadvantaged schools. As a result of protests, the government now says that it made a mistake.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) have condemned physical attacks on teachers by parents, and have pointed out that this is an indirect result of poor resources and national testing.

Nigerian schools, petrol stations, banks, government buildings, offices and shops are closed in a second day of a nationwide strike against the removal of fuel subsidies.
