Children's Drama Project refused Entry to Gaza
Children in Gaza
A collaborative drama project for children between theatre makers in Gaza and the UK has been refused entry to Gaza
The project which aims to foster cultural exchanges between the people of Gaza and the UK and in particular to work with children traumatized by violence, has been stalled at the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza, with the UK contingent being refused permission to get through.
The programme includes an intensive programme of drama workshops for young people. This programme is designed to last for eight weeks and involves 40 young people who were considered to be in special need of this work. The workshops centre around two questions: 'What is the use of theatre?' and 'What is the impact on future generations of organised violence?'
