Isreali Fire Kills 40 in UN School
A family fleeing violence in Jabaliya last march
Doctors estaimate that 40 people were killed inluding 12 children in a UNRWA school being used a shelter for people in Gaza – many more were injured
The school – the Jabaliya preparatory girls’ school in the Jabaliya refugee camp was clearly marked by a United Nations flag. A spokesperson for the United Nations called for an independent enquiry into the killings so that if a war crime had been committed those responsible could be brought to justice.
People had fled from their homes to the shelter in the wake of Israeli ground attacks which have already seen many civilians including children killed. However in this most densely populated and tiny territory nowhere is safe from the relentless bombardment. Protests are mounting throughout all continents of the world against the Israeli bombardment and invasion of Gaza.(see also previous post)
