The leader of the Korean Teachers' Union  Jeon-Kyo-Jo has been on hunger strike since the 23rd February in protest against the sacking of members of the union

The teachers had been sacked for refusing to co-operate with the country's testing regime. Relationships between the government and the teachers' union are very bad. The government has scrapped its collective bargaining agreement with teachers and exempted the private school sector from entering into collective bargaining agreements.
