New York Bakery Strikers send Solidarity to Haiti Teachers
The Bakery Workers
Bakery workers in New York, who have been on strike for union recognition, have demonstrated their solidarity with the striking teachers of Haiti
The bakery workers, who have won union recognition after 55 days of strike at the Hot and Crusty Bakery in New York, demonstrated with placards their solidarity with the Haitian teachers. The signs read 'Workers' solidarity knows no borders' and ' Solidarity in struggle with the teachers in Haiti'
The Haitian teachers are on strike this week for decent education funding in their country, which has not only been devastated by an earthquake and subsequent cholera and destitution, but has also undergone the attentions of neo-liberal school reformer Paul Vallas who is imposing the 'shock doctrine' on Haiti's devastated public schools.
