Norwegian Teachers Strike

Teachers joined nurses and pre-school workers in a strike in Norway last week for a salary increase.The teachers are members of the professional workers union UNIO and they are seeking a 7% pay rise. Their spokesperson said that teachers and nurses were disappointed to have received a lower settlement than others in the public sector.

Since the strike began last week 3,000 more teachers have joined their colleagues meaning a total of 11,000 teachers are now on strike.
