Police Attack Teachers’ Demonstration in Phillipipnes

Teachers being attacked by police in a previous demonstration last November

A teachers’s demonstration in the Phillipine capital Manila on January 31st has been violently put down by police.

The teachers’ were demonstrating for poperly funded and organised state education in the Phillipines and against changes which would mean more teachers on short contracts, longer working hours, curtailment of the right to organise and loss of benefits among other changes.
