Spanish Students propose joint Action with Teachers
One of the Demonstrations in Spain last Month
Spanish students are proposing further joint action with teachers' unions against education cuts
The students union is suggesting joint action on May 10th. This would be the prelude to further joint action by students and teachers against education cuts across the school and university sector.
Spain has seen a series of demonstrations and strikes by teachers, students, school students and parents, most recently at the end of March against the massive education cuts in the country as well as against health cuts and attacks on labour rights. The right wing government is attempting to justify these policies as a way of cutting the deficit. But student leader Thoil Delgado points out that while education is being cut by 21% the banks have been given 50 billion euros - five times the size of the cuts in education and health.
