Teacher Facing Death Sentence in Iran

Education International has taken up the case of Farzad Kamangar - a 32 year old teacher who has been sentenced to death in Iran

The Iranian Teachers Association and Amnesty International are calling for Farzad to receive a fair trial. He is charged with endangering the state and emnity against God but his trial only lasted a few minuntes and reports say that he has been tortured on many occasions.

Farzad was a member of the Kurdish Teachers Trade Association until it was outlawed and was an active  campaigner for minority and women’s rights.
